Mark Díaz is a Research Scientist with the Ethical Artificial Intelligence team at Google Brain. His primary research focuses on the use of algorithmic tools to study human behavior– particularly the behavior of marginal social groups. He uses mixed methods to probe the origins of social bias in algorithms and explore approaches to involving underrepresented communities in the design and evaluation of computational systems. His past work has included a systematic evaluation of age bias in sentiment algorithms as well as involving older adults in the creation of novel data sets for sentiment analysis.
